Abstract
Health risk appraisal (HRA) is a method of predicting or assessing future disease prevalence and mortality risk based on
health risk factors. The national health screening program has provided HRA for 4 diseases (cardiovascular diseases,
cerebrovascular diseases, vascular dementia, cancer), based on the results of health screenings since 2009. However, the issues such as poor disease predictability, validity, and difficulty in understanding the results have been raised. The newly revised health risk appraisal focused on cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases is expected to provide the better understanding and predictability of those diseases.
